Biography
Shao Ziyu was born in China in 2010. Since 2018, he has been a student at the Gnessin Moscow Secondary Special Music School (under Elena Berezkina). He is also a scholarship holder of the Vladimir Spivakov Foundation.
Shao Ziyu has won the Chopin International Competition in Poland (2019), Musica Classica International Competition in Ruza (1st prize, 2019; Grand-Prix, 2023), Nutcracker International Television Competition (Bronze Nutcracker, 2019), Manhattan International Music Competition in New York City (Gold Medal, 2020), Vladimir Krainev International Competition (2021), Vasily Safonov International Competition in Pyatigorsk (Grand-Prix, 2021), International Competition of Young Pianists in memory of Vladimir Horowitz in Kyiv (2021), and Franz Liszt International Competition in Weimar (Germany, 2023).
Shao Ziyu has participated in the Moscow Meets Friends International Festival run by the Vladimir Spivakov Foundation, Piano Duo Festival in Amsterdam, Tianjin Festival for Young Artists, Spasskaya Tower Festival, etc.
He has attended master classes by Dmitry Bashkirov, Arie Vardi, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Mikhail Voskresensky, Grigory Gruzman, Nicolai Demidenko, Andrzej Jasiński, Vera Nosina, Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń, Wojciech Świtała,Norma Fisher, Alexander Romanovsky. He has appeared alongside Vladimir Spivakov and the Moscow Virtuosi Orchestra, Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra and other orchestras, having performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City and the leading venues in Moscow.
