Biography
Lev Bakirov was born in 2010. He started his musical training at the Perm Boys’ Cappella, and was admitted to the Moscow Gnessin Special School of Music (under Boris Berezovsky). He holds scholarships from the New Names Foundation, Vladimir Spivakov Foundation and Sergei Rachmaninoff Foundation (Switzerland).
He has received prizes at international competitions, was a finalist of the All-Russian Selection for the Russian National Orchestra, and winner of the All-Russian Blue Bird Young Talent Competition. He was awarded Grand Prix at the 1st Rachmaninoff International Youth Piano Competition, as well as a special prize for his ‘Outstanding performance’ from Yangtze River Piano Company (2023).
He has participated in the festivals Moscow Meets Friends (by Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation), Crescendo and Stars on the Baikal (run by Denis Matsuev), the Winter Arts Festival in Sochi (run by Yuri Bashmet), Summer Evenings in Yelabuga (run by Boris Berezovsky), the Alexander Scriabin and Emil Gilels festivals in Moscow, and the Slavianski Bazaar festival in Vitebsk. He has given recitals at Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Villa Senar in Switzerland (2021), and at the BOYA Piano Festival in Zhengzhou (China, 2023). He has performed with many of Russia’s top orchestras.
