Master classes of the jury members

"It is impossible to teach in an hour, and it is not my goal. These are my colleagues, I can only share my experience: I will share it with them, and they with me," says Rena Shereshevskaya, professor at the École Normale de Musique de Paris. A similar point was made by Vincenzo Balzani: the professor at the Accademia del Ridotto in Pavia emphasised that "you have to learn together with the child".

The Grand Piano Competition jury held masterclasses as part of the competition. Four young pianists from Russia and Japan were able to study with the masters.

Rena Shereshevskaya spoke about what fragments had been borrowed by Chopin from Moscheles and by Beethoven from Bach, what a rare autograph by Prokofiev means and how to understand the content of a musical piece.

Vincenzo Balzani described Beethoven's 96 types of dynamic nuances, suggested studying ancient manuscripts and showed "orchestral" piano playing techniques.
