Graduated from the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, Yury Tkachenko was the assistant conductor of Vladimir Fedoseyev in the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, chief conductor and artistic director of the Rostov Symphony Orchestra. He is the Principal Guest Conductor of the Russian Symphony Orchestra of the Tchaikovsky Foundation; in 2004–2015 — the Principal Conductor of the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians (also a jury member in 2015). Yury Tkachenko performs as a guest conductor with well-known orchestras in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Belgium, South Korea and other countries. Yury Tkachenko has performed in the largest concert halls of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Astana, Tokyo, Seoul, Madrid, Barcelona, Warsaw and other cultural centers of the world; participated in festivals in Poland, Belgium, Croatia, Japan, in the Third Festival of the World Orchestras in Moscow. Collaborated with famous soloists, including Denis Matsuev, Viktor Tretyakov, Maxim Fedotov, Vladimir Ovchinnikov, Ekaterina Mechetina, Lilia Zilberstein, Pavel Milyukov, Nikita Borisoglebsky, Sergey Krylov, Alexander Ramm, Graf Murzha, Sergey Tarasov, Boris Andrianov, Tatyana Vasilyeva, Alexander Buzlov, Sergey Antonov, Dmitry Illarionov, Igor Butman, Arkady Shilkloper and many others.
Yury Tkachenko is the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation and the Honored Artist of the Republic of Dagestan. He is the head of the Department of Orchestral, Opera and Symphony Conducting at the Moscow State Institute of Culture. He gives master classes in opera and symphony conducting.
